New website – we need your help!
University of Portland has recently selected Hannon Hill’s Cascade Server as the new content management system for UP’s public website, up.edu. The new CMS will replace Sherpa.
To coincide with the installation of the new CMS, the University is also making plans to redesign our public-facing website, up.edu, and we need faculty and staff feedback. A short user survey is running on up.edu. Next time you visit the website, please click on the “How Can We Improve?” tab and take a moment to answer the short questions about how you’re using up.edu. Your answers will help our design team plan the architecture and navigation for the new site.
Superusers are invited to a meeting on Tuesday, April 21 at 9:30 a.m. in the Chiles Center Hall of Fame Room. Timelines for the redesign and CMS installation will be shared and there will be ample time for a question-and-answer session.
Please contact Amy Shelly, shelly@up.edu, or Lisel Stancil, stancil@up.edu, for more information.

Farewell Party for Sue Safve, Feb. 27: The End of An Era
All University community members are invited to bid farewell to Sue Safve, marketing and communications, as she retires from her 44-year career on The Bluff. The reception will take place on Friday, February 27, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., in the Terrace Room.
The estimable Sue Safve began her career in 1971 in the print shop, without a specific position, and was soon operating and maintaining the old Addressograph machine used for mailings. She eventually became a printing press operator, was a paste-up and page layout artist, and got a great deal of satisfaction from waving an Exacto blade around. She did darkroom work, stripped negatives, and made plates, eventually taking up the typesetting side of printing by the learn-as-you-go style.
For the past 20 years she has mastered the art of desktop publishing and graphic design, essentially putting her mark on every publication, postcard, brochure, pamphlet, and program the University has produced for the past five decades. She now plans on traveling and puttering around in her SE Portland flower beds, no longer muttering “That &%$#@! Doyle” under her breath. We will miss her more than we can say.
