Fall Job Openings for Student Employees
The hiring period for the fall semester begins August 15 when all job openings are posted on the new student job board, according to Laura Barnard, financial aid. Over the next few weeks, hundreds of students will be checking the online job board looking to apply to on campus jobs. It is now required to post all open positions for student employment on the new HireTouch board.
Check out our supervisor resources web page that has HireTouch Help Sheets on how to post jobs as well as managing and hiring applicants. Paper referral forms are no longer being handed out at financial aid for new hires.
Contact Barnard at studentemployment@up.edu as soon as positions are filled and she will assist with removing them from the job board.
Appreciating an Unsung Hero: Heather Hall Lewis
Heather Hall Lewis, financial aid, was nominated by her peers in the Oregon Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (OASFAA) for the Unsung Heroes Award. The award is given to OASFAA voting and affiliate members who demonstrate extraordinary commitment to Oregon students and OASFAA by “working without reward or recognition.” Past awards have gone to members who may not serve as OASFAA committee chairs or executive board members, but have shown a commitment by quietly working on committees or working in their offices or communities.

Student job listings are needed as soon as possible.
Departments hiring student employees this fall are asked to submit job openings prior to August 15 through the jobs tool web site at https://appstwo.up.edu/studentjobs. Hiring Requirements For Fall Semester Student Workers
All student supervisors need to make sure each of their student employees is officially on the department’s payroll before allowing students to begin working for fall semester, according to Laura Barnard, financial aid. All new student employees must submit a completed referral form to financial aid before their first day on the job. New student workers who have never worked on campus before must fill out a Form I-9 and a Form W-4 before receiving a referral form and before they may begin working. Completing the Form I-9 includes providing proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States by providing original, unexpired documents such as:
- Social Security card and picture ID
- Birth certificate and picture ID
- U.S. passport.
If a student has been working during the summer and will continue in that same job for the fall the student does not need to submit a new referral form. Also, if a student was rehired on the rehire roster last spring, the student will not need to submit a new referral form for the fall. To verify whether a student may begin working in the fall, contact Barnard at 7311 or studentemployment@up.edu.
