Home Volleyball, Men’s Soccer Action This Week

1aPilots150The Pilots volleyball team will host their first matches this weekend at the Chiles Center as the team welcomes three other teams to the Portland Volleyball Tournament.

Make plans to join the Pilots on Friday, September 4, at 5 p.m., as they play their first home game of the season versus Nevada. Then the action continues on Saturday with a match versus Grand Canyon at 11 a.m. and UC Riverside at 7 p.m. For more information on the Pilots volleyball team, visit portlandpilots.com. Make plans to join the men’s soccer team at Merlo Field this weekend for two more home games making up the tail end of a four-game home stretch as they host Grand Canyon and Vermont. The Grand Canyon game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. kick-off on Friday night. The game versus Vermont will be held on Sunday at 5 p.m. Tickets for both games are still on sale and can be purchased at the Pilots Box Office or by calling 7525.

Women’s Volleyball Home Opener, Oct. 2

_1aVolleyballAlready through half of their season, the Pilots volleyball team finally comes home to the friendly confines of the Chiles Center this week. The action kicks off on Thursday night at 7 p.m., when the Pilots take on Loyola Marymount in West Coast Conference action. The team will then play their second home game of the season on Saturday at 1 p.m. Make plans to come out to see the new coaching staff and team in action; tickets start at just $6 for adults and $4 for kids. _1aVolleyballVolleyball continues West Coast Conference action at home this week as the Pilots host Brigham Young and San Diego. The games kick off on Thursday night when BYU comes to the Chiles Center to play the Pilots at 7 p.m. The game is also Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) Night with free admission for all CYO kids and their families. Make plans to join the women’s soccer team as they return home, after a 4-game road trip, to open West Coast Conference play versus rival Gonzaga. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff on Saturday. All fans are encouraged to invite friends to the game and help the Pilots maintain the NCAA attendance record for the ninth consecutive season. To claim a free ticket for you and your guest, please print out this article and bring it to the Pilot Box Office on the day of the game (Saturday, October 19). Limit two free tickets per person. Merlo Madness is coming. Help the Pilots set an all-time record attendance at Merlo Field when the Pilots take on BYU on Saturday, October 26th at 7:00 p.m. All faculty and staff are encouraged to attend the game and help the University of Portland pack the stadium to help do their part in being part of Merlo Madness and history. There will also be a push to get 2,000 students to the game, with a contingent plan to expand the student section to accommodate for overflow. The men’s soccer team kicks off the WCC action on Friday when they play San Diego at 7 p.m. Then the volleyball team will bring WCC action to the Chiles Center on Saturday, as they play Gonzaga at 1 p.m. The weekend is topped off when the men’s soccer team heads out to Merlo Field to play Loyola Marymount at 1 p.m. on Sunday. 1soccerSept2The Pilots women’s soccer team returns to Merlo Field this weekend to host the Nike Portland Invitational. Portland will face Central Michigan on Friday, with a 7 p.m. kickoff. Members of the Portland Thorns professional women’s soccer team will make an appearance and be available for pre-game autographs. Fan are encouraged to arrive early if they are interested in meeting the Thorns players. Tournament action continues on Sunday as the Pilots take on Wake Forest at 2:30 p.m. Sunday will be the first ever “Green Day” at a Pilots Soccer game—fans are encouraged to ride their bicycles to the game and help reduce pollution. All fans that ride their bikeswill be given a free full-priced general admission ticket to the game. Bike racks will be provided. The Pilots volleyball team will return to the Chiles Center to host their own tournament, the Portland Nike Invite. The team is set to play three games, two on Friday and one on Saturday. The action kicks off at 12:30 p.m. as the Pilots take the court versus Fresno State. Later that day, the Pilots will face Wichita State at 7:30 p.m. They will also face Utah State on Saturday night at 7 p.m. Soccer fans are encouraged to attend the volleyball games and cheer on the Pilots: a soccer ticket stub from the weekend’s games will get you in to the volleyball games for free.
