1soccerSept2The Pilots women’s soccer team returns to Merlo Field this weekend to host the Nike Portland Invitational. Portland will face Central Michigan on Friday, with a 7 p.m. kickoff. Members of the Portland Thorns professional women’s soccer team will make an appearance and be available for pre-game autographs. Fan are encouraged to arrive early if they are interested in meeting the Thorns players. Tournament action continues on Sunday as the Pilots take on Wake Forest at 2:30 p.m. Sunday will be the first ever “Green Day” at a Pilots Soccer game—fans are encouraged to ride their bicycles to the game and help reduce pollution. All fans that ride their bikeswill be given a free full-priced general admission ticket to the game. Bike racks will be provided. The Pilots volleyball team will return to the Chiles Center to host their own tournament, the Portland Nike Invite. The team is set to play three games, two on Friday and one on Saturday. The action kicks off at 12:30 p.m. as the Pilots take the court versus Fresno State. Later that day, the Pilots will face Wichita State at 7:30 p.m. They will also face Utah State on Saturday night at 7 p.m. Soccer fans are encouraged to attend the volleyball games and cheer on the Pilots: a soccer ticket stub from the weekend’s games will get you in to the volleyball games for free. Counting Down for UP Soccer Season

soccer2013The 2013 men’s and women’s soccer season kicks off in less than two months when the women take to Merlo Field against Marquette on Friday, August 23 at 7 p.m. There are going to be some fun promotional events this year surrounding this game including the annual Bite on the Bluff before the game and post-game fireworks. There will also be the 25 year reunion of the first men’s final four soccer team on the 15th of September, and a Movie Night sponsored by Safeway on the baseball field following the games on September 27th. Reserve your season tickets now to see all 25 home games. General admission season tickets start at just $88, new season tickets only. All University of Portland faculty and staff can receive 50 percent off their season ticket purchase by visiting the box office and presenting a valid UP ID card.  For more information or to order your season tickets, please call (503) 943-7525.

The Pilots women’s soccer team is scheduled to play host to the Portland Thorns FC on Saturday, March 30 at 7 p.m., for an exhibition match on Merlo Field. The match is a free event and is open to the public with a suggested donation at the door to benefit the Providence Health and Vascular Institute’s Play Smart Young Heart Screening Program. The Pilots baseball team is set for a 3-game series with Santa Clara starting on Thursday with a scheduled double-header beginning at 11 a.m. The final game of the series will be played on Saturday at 1 p.m. Tickets are still available for all games and can be purchased at the Pilots Box Office or by calling 7525.
