The athletics department is excited to announce that Major League Baseball manager Dusty Baker will be speaking at the 13th annual Diamond Dinner, sponsored by Red Lion Hotel on the River. The Diamond Dinner has become Pilot baseball’s primary fundraiser and is scheduled for Saturday, February 8, in the Bauccio Commons. Tickets are $55 each or $440 for a table of eight and is open to the public. Festivities begin with a social hour and a silent auction starting at 5 p.m.; dinner is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., and the program is planned to begin at 7 p.m. Anyone interested in attending should contact Laura Hanna, development, at 8607 or hanna@up.edu.

The annual University of Portland men’s basketball Military Appreciation Night is coming to the Chiles Center on Saturday, January 4, when the Pilots play host to Saint Mary’s at 7 p.m. All active and retired military personnel and their familes can recieve free admission to the game by showing a military ID at the Pilots Box Office. Pilots Playoff Watch Party, Nov. 11
Make plans to join the women’s soccer team and the athletic department staff this afternoon (Monday, November 11) at 1:30 p.m. for the official NCAA Soccer Playoff Selection Show. The athletic department will be streaming the event live in the Hall of Fame Room in the Chiles Center. If the Pilots are selected to host a first round game, the match will take place on Saturday, November 16, at 7 p.m. Tickets for this event will go on sale Wednesday morning at 11 a.m., and can be purchased at the Pilots Box Office or over the phone at 7525. Women’s Soccer Playing on National TV
Women’s soccer return to Merlo Field for an important WCC game with first place implications on the line as they take on No. 9 Santa Clara on Thursday, November 7, at 8 p.m. The game will be on ESPNU so come out and help pack Merlo Field to show the nation why Pilot fans are tops in the nation. The team will also be in action on Saturday, November 9 at 2:30 p.m., taking on San Francisco. Pilot Basketball Home Openers
The Pilots men’s and women’s teams open their regular season play this week as both teams will take part in a doubleheader at the Chiles Center. The action tips-off on Friday at 5:15 p.m. when the women’s team takes the court to play the Eastern Washington Eagles. UP Rowing Open House
All faculty and staff are invited to join the athletics department at the UP Rowing Open House on Sunday, October 27, from 8 a.m. to noon, at the Portland Boathouse at 1515 SE Water Avenue. All are welcome to join the UP rowing family at their last home race, the Portland Fall Classic Regatta. The UP teams will be racing throughout the morning, and coffee and refreshments will be available to all Pilot fans at their team tent. Boathouse tours will take place at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. with coach Pasha Spencer.
