Men’s Basketball, Women’s Soccer Senior Night This Week

It’s a huge week for UP athletics, with basketball season starting up as soccer season is wrapping up. Join us in celebration of our women’s soccer seniors this Saturday for Senior Night on November 9, 7 p.m., at Merlo Field. And don’t miss the men’s basketball game versus Willamette on Tuesday, November 5, at 7 p.m., in the Chiles Center.

10th Annual Bite on The Bluff: Friday, August 24

Orientation is right around the corner, and that means the annual Bite on The Bluff is coming back to UP. This year’s event is the 10th anniversary and will happen on the Friday night of Orientation, August 24, and will precede not one, but two Orientation soccer games. Men’s soccer will take on Sacramento State at 5 p.m., and women’s soccer will face San Jose State at 7:30 p.m. The Bite will begin before the first match and run into the second match.

Mark the 10th Annual Bite on The Bluff on your calendar, as you will not want to miss this night of great soccer and local food and drink carts. Tickets for the game are on sale now and going fast, so be sure to purchase today as the athletics department expects a sellout crowd. Women’s Soccer Set to Take on Oregon State

Women’s Soccer Returning Home for Final Two Home Games

soccer-ballMake plans to join the women’s soccer team this week for the final two home games of the 2016 season. The Pilots have their sights set on post-season play and two wins at home will improve their chances. The action kicks off on Friday night as the Pilots host Pacific at 7 p.m. Game two of the week, and the Senior Night graduating players, will be on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. Tickets for both games are still available at Portlandpilots.com/tickets or by calling the Pilots Box Office at x7525. Three Soccer Games Over Halloween Weekend

mummy soccerMake plans to join the Pilots men’s and women’s soccer teams over Halloween weekend for three soccer games, all taking place at Merlo Field. The men’s soccer team kicks off the action on Friday versus Santa Clara at 7 pm. Then on Halloween afternoon the women’s soccer team takes the main stage in a matchup with Gonzaga. Kids are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes to the game for free admission and to take part in trick-or-treating on campus and at the game. Finally on Sunday, the men’s soccer team will take the field once again to battle San Francisco in a 1 p.m. game. For more information visit portlandpilots.com. Soccer Exhibition Games vs. Portland Thorns, T2

soccer ballThe UP women’s and men’s soccer teams will welcome the Portland Thorns FC and Portland Timbers 2 (T2) to Merlo Field for a pair of exhibition games this weekend. The two matches are presented by Providence Health & Services and $2 of every ticket purchased supports Providences’ sports screening and health education programs for youth . The Portland women will first host the Thorns on Saturday, March 21. The UP men will follow a day later against T2 on Sunday, March 22, and kickoff for both matches is set for 7 p.m. Tickets for both matches are on sale at TicketMaster.com and through the Pilots Box Office (7525). Prices are $10 for stadium chairs, $8 for bench backs, and $5 for bleachers.

Blackout Women’s Soccer Game vs. Pepperdine, Oct. 24

1aPilots150Make plans to wear black and attend the Pilot women’s soccer game versus Pepperdine on Friday, October 24, at 7 p.m., as the athletics office tries to “blackout” Merlo Field for the launch of the Portland Pilots new secondary logo. This is a huge event for the athletics department and the campus as a whole. The launch will include giveaways for the first 500 fans at the gate featuring the new logo. Gates open at 6 p.m., so make plans to be at the game early. Every occupied seat counts as the Pilot women hope to maintain their reign as highest in the nation in average attendance for a tenth straight year. All staff and faculty can receive 50 percent off general admission tickets; please contact Dave Taylor at the Pilots box office at 7525.

Men and Women Return Home For Pilots Soccer Action

womenssoccerThe men’s and women’s soccer teams return home this week for a total of four games, three of which will be played at Merlo Field, and one to be played at Nike Campus. The action kicks off on Friday at 2 p.m., when the men take on Duquesne. The women also will take the field on Friday with a 7 p.m. game vs. Miami. Then on Sunday, the men will take on Siena at 1 p.m. at Ronaldo Field at Nike Headquarters, while the women take on San Diego State at 2:30 p.m. here at Merlo Field. As a reminder, all faculty and staff can receive 50 percent off season tickets and 50 percent off general admission single game tickets.

Pilots Playoff Watch Party, Nov. 11

1aFrisbieMake plans to join the women’s soccer team and the athletic department staff this afternoon (Monday, November 11) at 1:30 p.m. for the official NCAA Soccer Playoff Selection Show. The athletic department will be streaming the event live in the Hall of Fame Room in the Chiles Center. If the Pilots are selected to host a first round game, the match will take place on Saturday, November 16, at 7 p.m. Tickets for this event will go on sale Wednesday morning at 11 a.m., and can be purchased at the Pilots Box Office or over the phone at 7525. Women’s Soccer Playing on National TV

womenssoccerWomen’s soccer return to Merlo Field for an important WCC game with first place implications on the line as they take on No. 9 Santa Clara on Thursday, November 7, at 8 p.m. The game will be on ESPNU so come out and help pack Merlo Field to show the nation why Pilot fans are tops in the nation. The team will also be in action on Saturday, November 9 at 2:30 p.m., taking on San Francisco.
