The University Orchestra will present Premier Performances on Tuesday, April 24, at 7:30 p.m., in Buckley Center Auditorium. Admission is free and all are welcome. The performance will feature debut guest soloist performances by UP seniors Catherine Jacobs, David Rogers, and Maddie Tran. Jacobs and Tran will sing arias by Handel, Mozart, Donizetti, and Bellini. Rogers will perform the first movement of Mozart’s bassoon concerto. The concert will also feature the premiere performance of “Portland,” written for the UP Orchestra and the city of Portland by composer Erich Stem. Two of the most definitive finales ever written will round out the program with the fourth movement of Dvořák’s “New World” symphony, and the third and fourth movements of Beethoven’s monumental Fifth Symphony.
