TIAA Representative on Campus Sept. 11-13

A representative from TIAA, which administers the University’s retirement accounts, will be on campus on September 11-13, in the Clark Library conference room (no. 222), according to Laura Barnard, human resources. Financial counseling appointments are available during work hours on those days in Oricco Hall, but appointments must be scheduled at www.tiaa-cref.org/schedulenow or by calling call TIAA at 877.842.2028 (press 5 to schedule an appointment).

Fourth of July Holiday: Classes Out, Offices Closed

The Independence Day holiday will be observed for University employees on Tuesday, July 4, according to the 2017 University holiday schedule. All University offices will be closed and classes will not be held.

Tuition Remission Application Deadline: July 1

Faculty and staff applications for tuition remission for Fall 2017 are due by Wednesday, July 1. Forms can be accessed through the human resources website at www.up.edu/hr/. Since deadlines need to match those in student accounts, employees are asked to please keep the following deadlines in mind:

  • Fall term: July 1
  • Spring term: November 15
  • Summer term: April 5

Please note that there are separate tuition remission application forms for undergraduate and graduate course work, and that any graduate level tuition remission benefits will be taxable to the employee on the value above $5,250 for attempted credits and subject to applicable withholdings, and will be reflected on the W-2 form of the tax year the remission was applied. IRS Form 1095-C On Its Way

In the next few days, employees of UP who worked full-time during any month in calendar year 2016 will be receiving a form called Form 1095-C via U.S. mail. This is an IRS form that UP is required to send to employees. Employees who did not work full-time during any month in 2016 will not receive this form (for example, most adjunct faculty members).

TIAA Counselor Coming Feb. 1-2

rohlederTIAA investment counselor Rebecca Rohleder will be on campus for individual financial counseling sessions with University employees on Wednesday, February 1 and Thursday, February 2, according to Nicole Bresnahan, human resources. She will be available to meet with employees in the Orrico Hall Conference Room. These sessions are available to any employee and appointments can be made by going to www.tiaa-cref.org/schedulenow or call TIAA at (877) 842-2028, press 5.

Lunch Hour Learning: “Holiday Stress,” Dec. 13

Last Day for Open Enrollment: Thurs., Dec. 1

dont-forgetThursday, December 1 is the final day for employees to submit information for 2017 health care benefits. The Open Enrollment Tool and the FSA Enrollment Form are available on the HR website. To access these resources, visit up.edu/hr. You must confirm or change your healthcare coverage by selecting “Open Enrollment Tool.” When you access the Open Enrollment Tool, you will be prompted to login with your user name and password.

If you wish to enroll in FSA for 2017 you must complete a new enrollment form. To access the form select “Discovery Benefits Enrollment Form” on the HR website and return the form to Nicole Bresnahan at MSC 168. You can also e-mail to bresnaha@up.edu or call x8752 if you have questions.

Tuition Remission Reminder

dont-forgetEmployees are reminded that Spring 2017 tuition remission requests are due by November 15 in order to avoid late charges on students’ accounts. There are separate application forms for undergraduate course work and graduate courses. A tuition remission summary is also available on the HR website at this link.
