Spring 2018 Tuition Remission Requests Due Nov. 15
Employees are reminded that Spring 2018 tuition remission requests are due by November 15 in order to avoid late charges on students’ accounts. There are separate application forms for undergraduate course work and graduate courses. A tuition remission summary is also available on the HR website at this link.

Open Enrollment for 2018 Benefits: Nov. 1-17
The Open Enrollment period for UP employee benefits takes place from November 1 through Friday, November 17, 2017, closing at 4:30 p.m. All benefited employees will be required to confirm or change their healthcare benefits during this time for coverage that will go into effect January 1, 2018. Healthcare options remain the same as 2017 with minimal changes to the plans. More details regarding the Open Enrollment process will be provided on the HR website.

2017 Wellness Fair and Open Enrollment: Nov. 1-17
The UP Wellness Fair, which takes place in the Beauchamp Center on Wednesday, November 1, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., will kick off the 2017 Open Enrollment for employee benefits. On-Site Flu Shot Clinic: October 27
Faculty and staff who are covered under UP’s Kaiser health insurance will have an opportunity to receive a flu vaccination sponsored by the HR office on Friday, October 27, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The clinic will be held on campus in Franz Hall room 120. You will need to bring your Kaiser Permanente card along photo I.D. in order to receive a flu shot.

UP Wellness Fair Happening on November 1
The UP Wellness Fair will take place on Wednesday, November 1, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Beauchamp Recreation & Wellness Center. Once again, the Wellness Fair will kick off the University’s open enrollment period. There are a limited number of openings for additional booths. Please contact Laura Barnard, human resources, if you or a vendor may be interested in hosting a table. All vendors must be approved by HR.

A representative from TIAA, which administers the University’s retirement accounts, will be on campus on September 11-13, in the Clark Library conference room (no. 222), according to Laura Barnard, human resources. Fourth of July Holiday: Classes Out, Offices Closed
The Independence Day holiday will be observed for University employees on Tuesday, July 4, according to the 2017 University holiday schedule. All University offices will be closed and classes will not be held.

Tuition Remission Application Deadline: July 1
Faculty and staff applications for tuition remission for Fall 2017 are due by Wednesday, July 1. Forms can be accessed through the human resources website at www.up.edu/hr/. Since deadlines need to match those in student accounts, employees are asked to please keep the following deadlines in mind:
- Fall term: July 1
- Spring term: November 15
- Summer term: April 5
Please note that there are separate tuition remission application forms for undergraduate and graduate course work, and that any graduate level tuition remission benefits will be taxable to the employee on the value above $5,250 for attempted credits and subject to applicable withholdings, and will be reflected on the W-2 form of the tax year the remission was applied.
