Residence Life Campus Resource Fair, August 18
The Office of Residence Life will be hosting a Campus Resource Fair during their hall staff training in August, and all departments are invited to participate. The fair will be held over lunch on Monday, August 18. This is an opportunity to connect RAs to as many departments on campus as possible and to potentially provide them with programming knowledge and ideas, and for RAs to assist in getting each department’s name and work out to our on-campus residents.
If you are interested in having a table at this year’s Campus Resource Fair, please contact Jessica Wode at wodej@up.edu by Wednesday, July 30.
Fall Course Packs Due July 30
All faculty and instructors must turn in their course pack materials for fall semester to the printing services office by July 30, according to Kassie Hansen, printing services. Astute readers will notice that July 30 is a past date; those who have not turned in materials are asked to do so as soon as possible. The lead time is needed so printing services staff can obtain copyright permissions and organize the packs for production before the start of the fall 2014 semester. Some copyright requests take up to six weeks to obtain—please keep this in mind so we are better able to serve your needs prior to the start of school. For more information contact Kassie at 8101 or hansenk@up.edu.
Remembering Kate
A funeral Mass for Spanish professor Kate Regan will be held Friday, August 8, at 10 a.m. at The Madeleine. Kate passed away unexpectedly on July 23.
The University Museum has created a display to honor Kate, who began her career on the Bluff in 1995 and received the Carnegie Foundation’s Outstanding Teacher Award in 2000. She taught and advised many students at UP and led study abroad trips to Spain and Costa Rica. Kate used filmmaking in her research projects and also incorporated filmmaking in her classes.
All are welcome to view photographs of Kate in the display case on the first floor of Buckley Center across from the Shepard Freshman Resource Center. To complement the Buckley Center memorial display, the University Archives and Museum has a WordPress post and slideshow in memory of Dr. Regan at http://tinyurl.com/p9lun3r. Contact Carolyn Connolly, museum coordinator, at 8038 or piatz@up.edu for more information.
Gifts in memory of Kate may be made to the Professor Kate Regan Memorial Fund at onlinegiving.up.edu.
