The list of Congregation of Holy Cross priests celebrating jubilee years in last week’s upbeat failed to mention Rev. Michael Belinsky, C.S.C., who marks 25 years with the Congregation this year. Fr. Belinsky served at Holy Redeemer parish from 2006 to 2007, and worked in the University’s campus ministry office from 2007 to 2012. His career as a priest has included working at hospice centers and with developmentally disabled adults, serving at Andre House in Phoenix, Ariz., ministering to people with AIDS in San Francisco, and social justice ministry. He is currently associate pastor at Christ the King Church in South Bend, Ind. We regret the omission.

Faith-Based Leadership Program
The University’s Faith-Based Leadership Program is designed for students who want to experience the challenges facing leaders in the Church and other faith-based organizations. Interning as an executive assistant for a senior leader in one of these organizations, students will be immersed in the reality of its day-to-day operations while, at the same time, discerning how God may be calling them to use their gifts and talents.
Faculty and staff are encouraged to nominate qualified sophomores who have a demonstrated interest, aptitude, and ability to thrive in a church or faith-based organization and encourage them to apply for the program. Student applications are due no later than March 31. More information is available at the Franz Center: Faith-Based Leadership Program (http://tinyurl.com/k3fzkmq), or by contacting campus ministry at 7131 or ministry@up.edu.
Father Thomas C. Oddo, C.S.C. Memorial Scholarship

Every year the University awards scholarship funds in Fr. Oddo’s name to one or two students who meet a set of criteria which includes demonstrated commitment to service and to service learning.
Nominations are welcome at this time for the next awards to students. For more information and a nomination form there are links on both the Moreau Center (http://tinyurl.com/lfwpxxf) and campus ministry (http://tinyurl.com/mpc398t) websites.
Lenten Prayer Opportunity: Visio Divina
For all who would like to step outside the frenzy of daily life for an opportunity to pray and contemplate in an ancient way, here’s your chance. This Lent, the Garaventa Center and campus ministry are teaming to offer Visio Divina in the Chapel of Christ the Teacher. Visio Divina has its roots in monastic tradition, and is a meditative means of entering into an image to see what God might have to say to you in silence. Each encounter will focus on a different image each week from the University’s St.John’s Bible Heritage Edition.
In response to feedback from staff and faculty who would like to participate in the community’s prayer life but prefer not to come back to campus after their work day ends, there will be two Visio Divina sessions each Wednesday in Lent, starting March 19 at 12:45 p.m. (30 minutes) and 7:15 p.m. (40 minutes). Visio Divina requires nothing from you but your quiet presence, and all are welcome. For more information, please contact Karen Eifler (eifler@up.edu) or Beth Barsotti (barsotti@up.edu).
Feast Day of St. Joseph Mass, March 19
A Mass to celebrate the Feast Day of St. Joseph, the patron saint of the Brothers of Holy Cross, will be celebrated in the Chapel of Christ the Teacher on Wednesday, March 19, at 5 p.m., according to Theresa McCreary, campus ministry. All are invited to attend. For more information contact McCreary at 7131 or mccreary@up.edu.
Palanca, Please
A group of 36 students will be attending the March Encounter with Christ Retreat along with 23 student leaders, March 21-23, according to Beth Barsotti, campus ministry. Faculty and staff members are asked to consider writing a note (“palanca”) to students they may know on the retreat list. This is an opportunity to encourage students and express appreciation for them outside the classroom. Each retreatant will receive an envelope of surprise palanca. Please do not discuss this concept with students to keep it a surprise.
A list of those going on the retreat can be found at www.up.edu/campusministry/palanca. Please submit your palanca to the campus ministry office in the Pilot House or St. Mary’s Student Center. Mark your envelope with “Encounter Retreat—(student’s name)” and bring it by Thursday, March 20. For more information contact Barsotti at barsotti@up.edu or 7463.
