Pilots Cross County Ranked no. 3 in National Poll

The Portland Pilots men’s cross country team jumped 22 spots in the most recent USTFCCCA National Poll to No. 3 after their recent second place performance at the Nuttycombe Invitational. The No.3 ranking marks the highest ever in Pilots cross country program history, as the Pilots have reached the high ranking of No. 4 in 1993, 2008, and 2009. Portland also currently ranks at No.1 in the West Region, and at No.3 in the FloTrack rankings.

The Pilots will compete next at the WCC Championships on October 27 in Oakland, Calif. Conference opponents BYU and San Francisco also rank in the USTFCCCA Poll at No.2 and No.29, respectively.

Pilots Take on Gonzaga for Saturday of Sports

Join the women’s soccer and volleyball teams as they take on the University’s Spokane rival, Gonzaga on Saturday, October 21. Volleyball takes on the Bulldogs at 1 p.m. in the Chiles Center. Pilots Soccer Begins Conference Play This Weekend

Portside With the Pilots: New Episode, Oct. 4

Pilots fans can catch an all-new episode of Portside with the Pilots on Wednesday, October 4, at 9 p.m., live on NBC Sports Northwest. As of October 2, CSN will now be branded as NBC Sports Northwest.

The weekly show looks into all things Pilots and this week’s show will feature University of Portland track senior Brent Knutzen, who is a first year workshop leader in the Shepard Academic Resource Center. There will also be an in-depth conversation with UP men’s soccer goalkeeper Paul Christensen, and a look back at the weekend in athletics, which included the WCC openers for women’s soccer, the first conference road trip for the UP volleyball team, and a couple of Top-10 opponents for the men’s soccer team.

Men’s Basketball Schedule Out Now: Season Tickets Available

The Pilots men’s basketball schedule has now been released, and season tickets are available today with Mini Pack, Flex Plans, and other ticket deals to be announced soon. Catch an all-new episode of Portside with the Pilots on Wednesday, September 27, at 9 p.m. live on CSN Northwest. The weekly show looks into all things Pilots and will feature University of Portland baseball alumnus Rocky Gale, who hit his first career MLB home run last week for the San Diego Padres after over 2,000 at-bats in the Minors.

The episode will also feature women’s soccer senior Jess Kennedy to discuss the team’s community service initiative to promote breast cancer awareness throughout the month of October. The Pilots are teaming up with a local foundation in Tigard to help provide resources to women with breast and other types of cancer.

Plus, the 2002 UP women’s soccer team was inducted into the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame last week and we caught up with several of the national champions. Lastly, we take a look how unique the soccer experience is at the University of Portland from the perspective of students, including Villa Drum Squad captain Brian Choate ’19 and ASUP president Brandon River ’18.
