Men’s Basketball, Women’s Soccer Senior Night This Week

It’s a huge week for UP athletics, with basketball season starting up as soccer season is wrapping up. Join us in celebration of our women’s soccer seniors this Saturday for Senior Night on November 9, 7 p.m., at Merlo Field. And don’t miss the men’s basketball game versus Willamette on Tuesday, November 5, at 7 p.m., in the Chiles Center.

Pilot Men vs. Pepperdine, Jan. 31

Pilot basketball fans are in for another huge WCC basketball matchup when the men’s team takes on California rival Pepperdine on Thursday, January 31 at 7 p.m. This game will feature the fan favorite halftime mile night at the races, featuring local runners racing against members of the Pilot track team in a one-mile race around the Chiles Center.

Also mark your calendars as we are only five weeks away from Pilots baseball season! Single game and multi-game mini packs are on sale now at this link.

Portland Classic Basketball Tourney Coming Next Week

November 9, 2018

Basketball season is officially here, and while there are no games this week, next week is the annual Portland Classic basketball tournament. The men’s team will play the following games:

  • Monday, Nov. 19: Pilots vs. Lewis & Clark, 7 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Nov. 21: Pilots vs. USC Upstate, 7 p.m.
  • Friday, Nov. 23: Pilots vs. Cal Poly, 7 p.m.
  • Saturday, Nov. 24: Pilots vs. Texas State, 5 p.m.

The Pilot women will take on Cal State Fullerton in their first official home game of the season on Saturday, Nov. 24, at noon.

Last Men’s Home Games This Week: Airplane Toss, Senior Night

The Pilots men’s basketball team will end their 2016-17 season with their two last home games this week. On Monday night the Pilots will take on Walla Walla University, game starting at 5 p.m. This game will be open to the public and will feature a $5 food option for all faculty and staff. Join us again on Thursday night as the Pilots take on BYU, game starting at 7 p.m. This game will feature the fan favorite annual halftime paper airplane toss. This will also be the last home game for our three seniors, including Pilot standout Alec Wintering. Tickets are available online at portlandpilots.com/tickets or at the Pilots Box Office.

Pilots vs. Pacific and San Francisco This Week

February 10, 2017

Join the athletics office this week to watch the Pilots men’s basketball team in action as they take on Pacific on Thursday night, followed by San Francisco on Saturday night. Thursday’s match-up will be a Battle of the Blazers as Terry Porter takes on former Blazer and Pacific head coach Damon Stoudamire. Saturday’s game versus San Francisco will host a pre-game Brewfest. Both match-ups are set to tip off at 7 p.m. Come out for two nights of family fun and great basketball! Bob Butler, professor emeritus of environmental studies; Jenda Johnson, Earth Sciences Animated; and Nic Zentner, Central Washington University, published an animation titled “Ghost Forests: Evidence for a Giant Earthquake & Tsunami in the Pacific Northwest.” This animation explores how Native American oral history, geology of ghost forests in coastal Washington and Oregon, and written accounts of a tsunami that flooded Japanese Pacific Coast villages converge to document the most recent Cascadia subduction zone megathrust earthquake on January 26, 1700 at about 9 p.m. The Ghost Forest animation can be found on the IRIS website at: https://www.iris.edu/hq/inclass/animation/740 or on YouTube at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xPbt8iiDRo&feature=youtu.be.
