Web and enterprise services is excited to announce the rollout of the new PilotsUP portal beginning August 10. The new version of PilotsUP features a clean, mobile friendly design, enhanced search and navigation, and a configurable display for accessing your most frequently used web resources. Sites for the registrar, financial aid, the provost’s office, and other heavy traffic sites have been migrated to the new platform. “PilotsUP Classic” will still be available for August and September; if you’re not able to locate a resource in New PilotsUP, please let web and enterprise services know. From August 10 through 12, PilotsUP will be intermittently unavailable as we transition to the new version. Please contact Lisel Stancil with any questions: stancil@up.edu.
Information Services
Announcing New Email Encryption Feature
Users can now encrypt individual UP emails to transmit sensitive information to anyone with the confidence that only the recipient(s) will be able to decrypt and read the message. Encryption is easy to enable on a case-by-case basis. All you have to do is add [encrypt] anywhere in the subject line of an email sent from your UP account. No special interface or website is needed for sending, and the message notification goes directly to the recipient’s inbox for easy retrieval. Any UP email that contains the following protected or sensitive information must be encrypted:
- Protected health information (i.e., patient record information)
- Personally identifiable information (ex., social security number, birthday, driver’s license, etc.)
- Credit card information
- Any information protected by governmental or institutional regulations.
For more information on how encryption works and what types of emails should be encrypted, please use this link. For further assistance or inquiries, contact the help desk.

- Please clear your browser cache before logging in for the first time.
- You may now log in with your network account password (separate password no longer required!)
- Chrome is the preferred browser for Banner 9 (you can use it on a Mac!)
Please contact IS if you experience any issues while using Banner 9. For more information contact Stancil at x7481 or stancil@up.edu.
Software Request Time for Classrooms and Labs
Information services will begin creating the computer classroom and lab software builds for the 2018 summer and fall terms in early April. A software build is applied to all computers in a computer lab or classroom and contains a set of applications that the students require access to in order to complete their coursework. The computer classroom/lab software builds start from a “blank slate” which means that whatever software was available for the spring 2018 semester will not be available for the 2018 summer or fall semester unless it is specifically requested. Exceptions are Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher), standard browsers and anti-virus protection. Please fill out the request survey here.
If you are interested in requesting software for other locations that are not labs or classrooms, please contact the help desk (help@up.edu or x7000).
A note to School of Engineering faculty: This request process if for installations in rooms outside of Shiley Hall.
Funding for new software is the responsibility of the requesting department. The software build and deployment process is extremely labor intensive; therefore, software requests must be submitted no later than March 30 if you want the software to appear on the computer classroom/lab software build for the summer or fall 2018 semester.
Please call the help desk at extension x7000 if you have questions.
