Music Program Piano Sale
We are pleased to notify you that many fine pianos loaned to the UP Music Program are now available for purchase. The selection includes baby grands, music room grands, uprights, hybrids and performance quality digital pianos.
The Music Program has a special arrangement with Kawai America Corporation and Portland Piano Company that directly benefits our talented music students by providing quality new pianos in our practice and performance spaces. These instruments are now being offered to the public at greatly reduced prices.
All University of Portland loaned pianos will be first offered to faculty, staff, alumni, students and friends at reduced prices by appointment Thursday through Saturday, June 9–11 before being sold to the general public on Sunday, June 12. These pianos have been professionally maintained and most include the original ten-year manufacturer’s warranty. Local arrangements have also been made for financing, professional delivery, and warranty coverage through Kawai America Corporation.
There are two ways to select a fine instrument:
- First-Choice Appointment: You are invited to take advantage of a limited number of Preview Appointments prior to the public sale by calling (503)775-2620. During your preview appointment you can view, inspect, and immediately purchase your piano. This will guarantee best selection as pianos are sold first come first served.
- A General Public Sale will be held on Sunday, June 12, from noon to 5:00 p.m. at Portland Piano Company, 8700 NE Columbia Blvd., Portland, OR, 97220.
The acquisition and maintenance of a quality piano fleet is one of the most crucial and expensive components of our accredited music program. Cooperative programs such as this piano loan program add significant value to the needs of our students. If you’ve ever wanted to own an exceptional piano, I encourage you to consider taking advantage of this opportunity, which directly benefits our students, our music program, and an important local and supportive business partner.
Please call (503)775-2620 to reserve your preview appointment today.
Tired of Changing Your Network Password Every 4 Months?
Information Services is pleased to announce all faculty and staff will be moved to a two-year password expiration with the completion of the 2022 Cyber Security Training and registration into the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) program.
2022 Cyber Security Training is now available for all Faculty and Staff through Moodle (https://learning.up.edu). This is a required annual training program focused on changing user behaviors and reducing cyber risk to the university.
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is an authentication method that requires the user to provide two or more verification factors to gain access to a resource such as email, Moodle, SelfServe, Banner, etc. Currently you enter your username and password, but when you enroll in MFA you will be prompted for a second form of authentication. For more details on how to register, along with a brief video tutorial, see: https://uphelp.service-now.com/kb_view.do?sysparm_article=KB0011910
Once we achieve 90% completion of the training and MFA enrollment across all faculty/staff you will be migrated from the existing four-month password expiration to a two-year expiration.
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to the Help Desk at 503.943.7000 or help@up.edu.
Apply For Sabbaticals (by Jun. 15)
Applications for sabbaticals for the 2023 – 2024 academic year are due along with faculty development plans to faculty members’ respective deans by June 15, 2022.
