Three Portland Pilots earned All-American honors and one received Honorable Mention for their performances during the 2016 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field season as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Woody Kincaid set a program record for the Pilots in the 5,000m at the NCAA Track and Field National Championships in Eugene. Kincaid just missed posting Portland’s third straight podium finish at the championships, coming up just one second shy of eighth place.
Lauren LaRocco came away with with two poduim appearances. LaRocco finished 4th in the 10,000m, and 48 hours later was able to finish 6th in the 5,000m.
Kaylie Van Loo topped off her junior season by taking 18th place in the javelin. Van Loo was the program’s first thrower to ever qualify for nationals.
Senior Reid Buchanan took 5th place in the 10,000m at Hayward Field. The 5th place finish ties a men’s program best finish at Nationals that has only been accomplished by two other Pilots in program history.
