Staff Appreciation Day with Pilot Volleyball, Sept. 20

Faculty and staff, please join the athletics office for Staff Appreciation Day at the Pilot volleyball game on September 20. All staff get 2 free adult tickets with their UP ID while all kids get in free! At 9-0, this is the best start in UP volleyball history. Help us start off conference play against Pepperdine at 7 p.m. Thursday and Saturday at noon versus LMU.
Also join us on Merlo Field for a PNW rivalry game as the men’s soccer team takes on Oregon State at 7:00 PM on Friday, September 21, and be sure to wear your WE ARE PORTLAND t-shirts to celebrate Purple Friday.

Soccer Returns to Merlo Field This Weekend

1a1mensoccerThe men’s and women’s soccer teams return to Merlo Field this weekend for a total of three games. The women’s team will play first with a Friday night game vs. Pacific Tigers for a West Coast Conference matchup starting at 7 p.m. Then on Sunday, the men’s soccer team kicks off the action with a noon game vs. Pacific Tigers followed by a women’s game vs. Saint Mary’s at 2:30 p.m. Please make plans to join the Pilot soccer family for these games and all events surrounding Hall of Fame Weekend. Your support of the soccer programs are much appreciated as UP hopes to lead the nation in average attendance for the tenth straight year. Yes, that’s right, the whole nation!

_1aVolleyballVolleyball continues West Coast Conference action at home this week as the Pilots host Brigham Young and San Diego. The games kick off on Thursday night when BYU comes to the Chiles Center to play the Pilots at 7 p.m. The game is also Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) Night with free admission for all CYO kids and their families. To RSVP for CYO Night, please email Mcnaryro15@up.edu or call 7431. Then the games continue on Saturday at 1 p.m. when the Pilots take the court to play University of San Diego. Make plans to join the women’s soccer team as they return home, after a 4-game road trip, to open West Coast Conference play versus rival Gonzaga. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff on Saturday. All fans are encouraged to invite friends to the game and help the Pilots maintain the NCAA attendance record for the ninth consecutive season. To claim a free ticket for you and your guest, please print out this article and bring it to the Pilot Box Office on the day of the game (Saturday, October 19). Limit two free tickets per person. Merlo Madness is coming. Help the Pilots set an all-time record attendance at Merlo Field when the Pilots take on BYU on Saturday, October 26th at 7:00 p.m. All faculty and staff are encouraged to attend the game and help the University of Portland pack the stadium to help do their part in being part of Merlo Madness and history. There will also be a push to get 2,000 students to the game, with a contingent plan to expand the student section to accommodate for overflow.
