CAS Curriculum Change Tutorial

August 30, 2019 By casdept

As students explore their interests and career goals, it is normal to change majors and minors during the undergraduate years. We advise you to speak with a program counselor throughout this process if you have any questions about your curriculum change, and to consult DegreeWorks to see the requirements for your desired major/minor, as well as your credit progress. (note: if you are incoming freshman and have not started at UP yet, contact the admissions office to change your curriculum).

The first step of completing a curriculum change request is to visit pilots.up.edu.

On the side option bar, click CAS students or Registrar-Students.

If you clicked CAS Students you will see this page with a list of Common Registrar Links

If you wish to change your major to a major outside of CAS, say, a major within the school of Engineering, Education, Nursing, or Business, you must click on Transfer Within the University.

If you desire to change or add a major or minor within the College of Arts & Sciences, click on Change Your Major (within CAS) and you will see this page titled Curriculum Change Request. You can Change Primary Major if continuing with the same degree (BA/BS) or add a secondary degree (BA/BS). For example, if you are a Biology major pursuing a Bachelors of Science, but would like to add a Spanish major through a Bachelors of Arts, you would click Add Major and input Spanish BA and submit. The Office of the Registrar will review your request and once the curriculum is changed, you will see a Primary Degree and a Secondary Degree on this page.

If you clicked Registrar-Students from the side option bar, you will see this page.

Click Curriculum Change at the top of the page.

Follow the above instructions to complete a Curriculum Change Request within the College of Arts & Sciences.

If you wish to change your major to a major outside of CAS, say, a major within the school of Engineering, Education, Nursing, or Business, you must click on the link that follows from “You will need to complete the Transfer Within the University form, which may be found here”.

After filling out this form and acquiring signatures of the Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences and the Dean of the College/School you wish to transfer to, return the form to the Office of the Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences and keep an eye out for your curriculum change on your self-serve account.

Feel free to contact as at cas@up.edu or 503-943-7221 if you have any further questions.
