HALLoween Trick-or-Treating (Oct. 31)
Please join us for the annual HALLoween trick-or-treating night on Monday, October 31, from 5–7 p.m., sponsored by the Office of Residence Life. Children through sixth grade are invited to trick-or-treat through the University’s residence halls, a wonderful way for children and their families to enjoy Halloween in a safe and controlled environment. Resident students enjoy this fun opportunity to give and reach out to members of their neighboring community.
LGBTQIA+ Affinity Group: You’re Invited!
Employees at the University of Portland are forming an affinity group for LGBTQIA+ staff, faculty, adjuncts, and administrators. All who self-identify as part of this community are invited to join this informal group by contacting Ian Robins, residence life. Ian has been on staff here since 2017 and serves as the associate director for student care. Ian will collect names and emails from interested employees so a listserv can be created, and the group can begin to gather (virtually) to plan and organize events, to support one another, to provide trainings and resources, and to network. Overall, the purpose of this group is to create a supportive community for LGBTQIA+ folks here at UP. If you have concerns about privacy and how our group will work, please contact Ian so you can get your questions answered.
To join this group or to communicate any questions or ADA accommodations, please contact Ian Robins (he/him/his) via email or phone at robins@up.edu and 503.943.7290.

Campus Resource Fair Coming August 14
The Office of Residence Life will be hosting their annual Campus Resource Fair during resident assistant training on Wednesday, August 14, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., in the Mehling Ballroom. All campus partners are invited to participate. This is an opportunity to connect resident assistants (RAs) to as many campus partners as possible, who can share information on how they can support the RAs in programming efforts, and for RAs to assist in getting each campus department’s name and mission out to on-campus residents.
If you are interested in having a table at this year’s Campus Resource Fair, please contact Bryn Rose at roseb@up.edu by Thursday, August 8.
Early Arrival Requests Due July 19
All departments that will be sponsoring students to arrive on campus prior to the standard move-in dates (August 22 for new students, August 24 for returning students) are asked to complete a Department Early Arrival Request, according to Ezequiel Delgado-Cervantes, housing coordinator for residence life.
For departments who need an excel template to submit their request, please email Ezequiel at delgadoc@up.edu. Departments will be charged $49 per person per night unless it is specified that the students’ accounts should be charged.
Students who are not arriving early for any department but wish to request an early arrival for themselves should submit a Petition Form to Modify Housing Contract to residence life.
