Submit Book Orders, Help Students Save $$
Summer and fall book orders are due by Wednesday, March 24, and submitting book orders now helps the Barnes & Noble bookstore keep costs down for students, according to bookstore manager Erin Cave.
Book rentals are one way students can save. UP’s rental program grows each semester; in the current semester, students rented over 6,000 books, saving an average of 50 percent off the price of a new book, with many books at an 80 percent discount. Over 80 percent of textbooks are available to rent.
Used books are another way for students to save money. The more time the bookstore has to find used books, the more copies they will be able to stock for students. The UP bookstore competes for used books every day with bookstores across the country. With variable pricing on rental books, students save even more by renting a used book.
Placing faculty book orders early will also enable the Bookstores to buy back textbooks from students. If the book is being used again in the fall semester, students can receive 50 percent back in cash for that book.
How to place book orders:
- Website (www.uportland.bkstore.com), go to Faculty Services to fill out the online form.
- E-mail (bksuportland@bncollege.com) – please provide complete information on the books and course.
- Telephone (x7125—please ask for Erin Cave or Mark Heinowski)
- Book order forms are available through department assistants or the bookstore.
For questions or assistance contact Erin at 7125 or cave@up.edu. She can take care of book ordering for faculty members if they would like—no special forms or online links. It really is as simple as saying “Same books as last time!”
