Kathy Robb’s Retirement Party

September 30, 2013

1aPellymonterRobb150Kathy Robb (Pellymonter at the time of this photo), provost’s office, will bring her long and distinguished career on The Bluff to a close on Friday, October 4, 2013. Kathy is going to enjoy some much-deserved leisure time and lavish even more affection on her three granddaughters. Please join in celebrating her 34-year career and bid her a fond farewell on October 4 from 3 to 5 p.m., in the Bauccio Commons Board Room.

Kathy was hired in October 1979 in the student accounts and student loans office. Academic vice president Fr. George Bernard, C.S.C., hired her as his administrative assistant in 1982, and beginning in 1986 she worked with Fr. David Sherrer. C.S.C., when he took over as academic VP. In 1995 she became Br. Donald Stabrowski’s administrative assistant; and since 2011 has worked with Tom Greene. She has served on numerous committees, including the president’s advisory council on computing and telecommunications from 1993 to 2005.

In all of her capacities she has worked in Waldschmidt Hall; when asked if she ever met the West/Waldschmidt Hall ghost, she replied: “I once had a conversation with Fr. Tyson, saying I have been in the building by myself a number of times and the ghost never appeared. Fr. Tyson said any ghost in his right mind would not appear to me.” Kathy’s tenure was marked by tragedy as well: “I was working with Fr. Sherrer when Fr. Tom Oddo was killed in a car accident in 1989, one of the saddest times for me.”

Kathleen Staten, who serves as office manager in the School of Education and secretary to the Academic Senate, will be the new executive assistant to the provost. Please congratulate her on her promotion.
