UP Staff Senate Working Group
The UP Staff Senate Working Group would like to update the University community regarding our progress to create a group that supports our diverse community of staff members. We have been actively working to review and implement feedback gathered from our Spring term listening sessions about our UP Staff Senate bylaws, scheduling meetings with University administration, and planning for upcoming fall activities.
We continue to seek membership from a wide variety of staff groups. Please email upstaffsenate@up.edu for more information and to express your interest in collaborating with our group.
Health and Counseling Center—Limited Summer Hours
This summer, the Health and Counseling Center (HCC) will be open on a limited schedule. Most appointments will be in person over the summer, although telehealth is still available when appropriate.
JULY—The primary care side of the HCC is closed for the month of July. Students should call to make counseling appointments Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Same-day mental health crisis appointments are available for those students who meet the criteria listed on our counseling website. We are not seeing students on a walk-in basis.
AFTER HOURS—Please visit our after-hours primary care website for a list of medical services available to students. Students needing to speak with the Pilot Helpline on-call-counselor can call the HCC at (503)943-7134 and choose option three to get connected from anywhere at any time.
Free Digital Lab Workshops (Jul. 11–15)
Would you like to start your summer with some new skills? Sign up for the Clark Library Digital Lab’s introductory workshops on iMovie, Graphic Design, Podcasting, and Canva! The workshops will be offered from July 11–15 and are free and open to current students, faculty, and staff.

New to The Bluff: Ken Pifer, Associate Vice President for Finance & Controller, Financial Affairs
Please join Financial Affairs in welcoming Ken Pifer as UP’s new Associate Vice President for Finance & Controller. Ken brings a wealth of experience in higher education as a Controller/AVP, most recently at Willamette University. He is a regular speaker at conferences sponsored by the National Association of College and University Business Officers and is a highly respected colleague among his peers in the business offices of private colleges in the west. Ken graduated with a BA in Business Administration (Accounting and Finance) from The Master’s College in Santa Clarita, CA.
