Information Services would like to announce Brandon Wood as our newest Help Desk Specialist. He joined us in December, having previously worked at the Help Desk at Biotronik in Lake Oswego. Brandon is a life-long Portlander and enjoys taking advantage of the hiking available in Washington Park and our other beautiful local areas.

New to The Bluff: Gary Laustsen, FT Visiting Faculty, School of Nursing & Health Innovations
The School of Nursing & Health Innovations would like to welcome Gary Laustsen as a FT Visiting Faculty for Spring semester 2023. Laustsen’s work on Family Health Care Nursing: Theory, Practice, and Research was recently named Best of 2022 by the American Journal of Nursing’s Best Book of the Year Award in the Environmental Health category. Laustsen’s chapter comprehensively addresses key concepts like environmental health risks, disasters, environmental justice, and the built environment. Diverse case studies illustrate the impact of environmental exposures on family health. Congratulations and welcome!

Greg is an accomplished leader in fundraising and advancement for Catholic and educational institutions. Most recently, Greg was working as an Associate Vice-President for Advancement with The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. He views university relations work as essential to ensuring that students, staff, and faculty have the resources they need to thrive and advance UP’s Catholic Holy Cross mission. Along with the teams he will lead in Development, University Events, and Alumni & Parent Relations, we look forward to Greg doing great things in service of our institution.

New to The Bluff: Lara Elliott, Evening Circulation Supervisor, Clark Library
The Clark Library is pleased to introduce Lara Elliott as the newest member of the Circulation team and Evening Supervisor for the library. Lara spent the past four years working at the New Orleans Public Library, assisting patrons with her trademark empathy and good humor. She is also a kickboxing enthusiast and former instructor. Lara holds a master’s degree in Library and Information Science and has expertly adapted to our academic library setting while providing support for student learning.
Lara loves to bake whenever she gets the chance and is always looking for new recipes to try out. She is also known to craft seasonal decorations at her desk (using any supplies she can get her hands on) in between answering emails and working with students. She’s happy to be back on the West Coast and excited to be part of the Clark Library team. Please join us in welcoming Lara!
