Clark Library: Exam Week and Commencement Weekend

During exam week, students have a “Find Your Zone” option where they can choose to be in a quiet study zone or collaborative zone as they wrap up their spring semester studies. Earplugs and headphones are also available at the Service Desk.

Library hours will be changing at the end of the week (full schedule). The building closes at 5 p.m. on Friday, is open on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and closed on Sunday.

Time To Plan For Final Exam Accommodations

The Office for Students with Disabilities (OSWD) would like to remind faculty that there is just over a week between Thanksgiving break and the start of final exam week. Due to this short window of time, the OSWD encourages faculty to request final exam proctoring needs from students before they leave for Thanksgiving break. The OSWD offers faculty the following tips to assist them in preparing for final exams:

Make multiple announcements of the date and time of your final exam and include a request of students needing exam accommodations for the final exam to contact you directly by a specific date (i.e the Friday before Thanksgiving).
Send individual e-mail reminders to students with exam accommodations requesting that the student contact you by a specific date to confirm the need for exam accommodations for the final exam.
Ask the student to confirm which exam accommodations are needed for the final exam. Note: Students who utilize accommodations such as use of a scribe, use of a reader, or use of text-to-speech or speech-to-text software may be referred to the OSWD for proctoring.
Find a location for the exam. To reserve individual exam seats in FR 123 or locate other possible exam space, faculty should contact their school or departmental administrative assistants.

Matthew Warshawsky, International Languages and Cultures, presented “‘A Woman So Perfect Keeping the Law’: The Crypto-Jewish Faith of Justa Méndez in Colonial Mexico.” The 34th Annual Conference of the Society for Crypto-Judaic Studies (presented virtually). October 27, 2024.

David Fuentes, Nursing and Health Innovations, presented “Bridging the Skills across Human and Artificial Intelligence Coaching Strategies to Boost Peer-Coaching & Self-Coaching Skills.” Co-presenter: Dave Houglum, PhD. Lightning Session of the Catholic Higher Education and AI Conference at University of Portland. The session briefly highlighted some of the innovations concerning the use of AI in leadership coaching, practice/training, and coaching ongoing developmental growth. October, 2024. Fuentes also presented: “Using Project Management Methodologies to Align General Education Assessment, Program Review, and Accreditation Simultaneously.”; “Systems-Thinking and Relationship Building to Address Accreditation and Institutional Efficiency.”; “Promoting Institutional Culture through Assessment Policy Development and Maximizing Stakeholder Engagement through Organizational Learning.” Co-presenters: S. Dave Houglum, Director of Leadership Studies and Leadership Professor of Practice, Franz Center for Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation, presented nine, one-hour invited leadership presentations for the European Leadership Programme in Brussels, Belgium. Houglum also provided individual leadership coaching sessions to many of the programme’s Fellows and to the staff of the Jesuit European Social Center (JESC). The European Leadership Programme draws emerging leaders from across Europe to participate in a five-month leadership development programme. October 12-16, 2024.
