Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday Masses, February 17

February 9, 2021

Two Masses will be offered in the Chapel of Christ the Teacher on Ash Wednesday, which is on February 17. Masses will be at 12:05 p.m. and 5 p.m.  Masks and social distancing will be required. Both of these Masses will be live streamed for those who wish to attend virtually.

If you wish to receive ashes but are unable to attend either of these Masses, Fr. Jim Gallagher, C.S.C., and Fr. Tim Weed, C.S.C. will be in the Chapel of Christ the Teacher to distribute ashes during these times: 10 – 10:30 a.m. and 2 – 3 p.m.

Please note that due to Covid-19, ashes will be sprinkled on a person’s head rather than a cross place on the forehead to be as safe as possible.

Ash Wednesday is the starting date for Lent, the liturgical season of preparation for Easter. This year Ash Wednesday falls on February 26. Mass will offered on February 26 at 12:05 p.m. and at 4:45 p.m. in the Chapel of Christ the Teacher. All are welcome.

Ash Wednesday is the starting date for Lent, the liturgical season of preparation for Easter. This year Ash Wednesday falls on March 6. Even though this is during spring break, Mass will offered on March 6 at 12:05 p.m. and at 4:45 p.m. in the Chapel of Christ the Teacher. All are welcome.

Wednesday, March 1 is Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of the Season of Lent, a period of preparation leading into the Easter celebration of the saving mysteries for Jesus’ passion, death, and resurrection. Masses will be offered on Ash Wednesday at 12:05 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. in the Chapel of Christ the Teacher. Masses will also be offered at 10:15 p.m. in Mehling, Kenna, and Schoenfeldt Halls.

Ash WednesdayWednesday, February 18 is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the season of Lent. All are invited to mark this day with prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Masses will be celebrated in the Chapel of Christ the Teacher at 12:05 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. Residence hall Masses will be celebrated at 10:15 p.m. in the Chapel of Our Lady of Guadalupe (Kenna Hall), in the Sacred Heart Chapel (Schoenfeldt Hall), and in the Mehling Ballroom.

  • Uganda Martyr’s Chapel/Shipstad Hall: 8:30 p.m.
  • Sacred Heart Chapel in Fields/Schoenfeldt Halls: 10:15 p.m.
  • Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel in Kenna Hall: 10:15 p.m.
  • Our Lady of Holy Cross Chapel in Mehling: 10:15 p.m.
  • Lenten Stations of the Cross: Fridays at 4:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Christ the Teacher.
