The UP chapter of Colleges Against Cancer will hold its annual American Cancer Society Relay For Life on Saturday, April 16, from noon to 8 p.m., in the Academic Quad on campus. All UP community members are encouraged to join teams or form their own for this event.
The Relay For Life program will honor cancer survivors and caregivers and feature the society’s mission to save lives from cancer. The funds raised at Relay support patient services, lifesaving research, prevention education, and advocacy efforts. Relay For Life is a community event where teams and individuals gather at a school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team has at least one participant on the track at all times and participates in fundraising that supports the American Cancer Society’s mission.
Three million participants registered in more than four thousand events worldwide in 2015. Last year, 372 people participated in Relay For Life of University of Portland and raised $30,000.
