Join us for a screening and discussion of OPB’s documentary “Road to Sunrise: A Journey to Reconcile Oregon’s Racist History,” featuring the racial justice work of UP alum Taylor Stewart ’18. Taylor will be joining us for the discussion.
Taylor first got involved in racial justice work in Oregon after attending a Civil Rights Immersion through the Moreau Center for Service and Justice. He took part in the Equal Justice Initiative’s work to name, honor, and recognize those whose lives were taken through lynching. He founded the nonprofit Oregon Remembrance Project, with a stated goal of truth-telling as a necessary step in the process of repair and healing. He began his work in Coos Bay, Oregon, and is now working with other communities to heal historic wounds and change the narrative of racial justice for Oregon’s future.
