The Career Education Center will be holding an internship and job fair for students in the Beauchamp Rec Center from 1 to 4 p.m. on Feb. 23. The CEC will also host a series of Job Fair Prep Workshops in Franz 110 and have extended drop-in hours prior to the event.

On February 28, our Title IX Coordinator (Ann James) will be at the University of Portland to provide our community the following TIX trainings (to be held in Franz 120). The following two trainings are offered:
What is involved in a Title IX investigation? (10:30 AM to 12:00 PM)
Have you wondered what goes into a Title IX investigation and whether serving as an investigator would be a good fit for you? Ann will discuss the procedural requirements of these processes; the time and energy commitments of serving in the role of investigator; and how to assist students who are involved in an investigation.
Guiding students through the informal resolution process (1:00 PM to 2:30 PM)
More and more students are choosing to resolve cases of sexual misconduct through the informal resolution process rather than participating in an investigation and formal hearing. Ann will discuss the advantages and challenges of this process; the procedural steps involved; and ways to support students who are participating in an informal resolution.

We invite you to be a part of a leadership book club for staff and faculty across campus. The purpose of the leadership book club is to provide a monthly opportunity for staff and faculty across campus (including graduates of the Leadership Fellows Formation Program) to connect and to support each other in our leadership journeys through shared knowledge, understanding, critical analysis, experiences, and literature.
The Online Leadership Book Club for UP Faculty and Staff at UP will continue to meet this semester on the 2nd Wednesday of the month in February, March, April, and May at 11:30-12:30 p.m. on TEAMs. Instead of a book, we will follow a series of podcasts and articles for discussion.

In her most recent book, poet Pattiann Rogers offers a fresh metaphor for the ephemeral nature of experience, time, and the human soul—flickering. Informed by everything from the neuroscience of consciousness to campfires and “the beauty of bells,” Rogers’ flickering has a lot to teach us about art, science, and ourselves.
Join Pattiann Rogers and fellow naturalist and writer Robert Michael Pyle for a live online panel discussion about flickering and being. The panel will be moderated by University of Portland scholar Corey S. Pressman (Integrative Health and Wellness) and rounded out by Rachel Wheeler (Theology), and Shannon Mayer (Physics). A Q&A session will follow the panel discussion.

Each year an individual faculty member is recognized for excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service. Recipients of the awards are honored in May at the Faculty Gala.
The service award seeks to identify and recognize faculty members that enhance the UP community, professional communities, and/or the world community through their service and leadership work with students, colleagues, and community members.
Examples of excellence in service include:
Eligibility and selection criteria for the Excellence in Service award are established by the Academic Senate and can be found on the Senate’s website (see “Resources” and “C on C Faculty Awards Criteria and Submission Information”). The selection process includes a formal nomination, the submission of supporting materials by the nominees, final selection by the Committee on Committees, and announcement and presentation at the Faculty Gala.
The deadline for nominations is February 23.
The deadline for supporting materials by nominees is April 5.
