The Office of International Education, Diversity, and Inclusion invites all UP community members to take part in “MLK Day On: Reconciliation, Reparation, Renewal,” a celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, January 18, 6-7:30 p.m., with a virtual keynote address by Taylor Stewart ’18. Stewart’s work confronts the legacy of racism in Oregon by marking the site of Alonzo Tucker’s 1902 lynching in Coos Bay, OR. Stewart’s efforts serve as a starting point for informing, educating, and inspiring dialogue about race and white supremacy in our community.
New this year: UP will also co-produce a special MLK Day Teach-In with Reed College, Portland Community College, Portland State University, and Campus Contact of Oregon on the Saturday following MLK Day On.
