The University of Portland Hawaii Club’s 39th annual Luau will take place on Saturday, March 28, in the Chiles Center. The popular event is filled with food, dance, and celebration, and this year’s theme is “Pi’i Mai Ka Nalu (Ride the Wave).” Each year students from Hawaii and their families share their Polynesian culture and traditions with the University and greater Portland communities.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Following a traditional luau meal, there will be a show featuring live music, hula, and traditional Polynesian dances performed by University students. General admission tickets (12-55 years old) are $20; student, faculty, staff, and alumni tickets are $10 (additional tickets purchased are $15); senior citizens (55+ years old) are $15; groups of 5 or more are $15 apiece; children (4-11 years old) are $10; and children under 4 years old are free. Tickets will be available March 23-27 in Bauccio Commons, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Tickets may also be purchased at the door on the night of the event.
