Eddie Contreras, studies abroad, co-pesented a session titled, “Promoting Inclusion in International Education in a Climate of Exclusion” on June 1, 2018, at the annual NAFSA Conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with Heather Barclay Hamir, president/CEO of the Institute for Study Abroad, Butler University, and James Lucas, assistant dean of global education and curriculum, Michigan State University. This scenario-based session explored the challenges in international education that impact the imperative to promote inclusion. It engages in the following questions: How might the current climate of nationalism impact students’ perceptions of the value of international education? How can educators manage commitments to internationalization and inclusion in this environment?
