Alice Gates, social work, served on the planning committee for Social Work Day on the Hill, sponsored by the Congressional Research Institute for Social Work and Policy (CRISP). The two-day conference took place in Washington, DC, March 21-22, 2018, and including lobby visits with the Oregon congressional delegation on Capitol Hill. Two social work students, Danielle Dillard ’18 and Anaceli Mejía ’18, accompanied Gates to the conference.

Molly Hiro, English, presented “Race, Voice, and Feeling in the Literature Classroom” at the College English Association Conference in St. Petersburg, Florida, on April 5, 2018.
Terry Favero, biology, was recognized as UP’s first recipient of the Undergraduate Research Mentor Award at the Founder’s Day graduating senior award breakfast. At the same time, Rochelle Shih, a biology and chemistry double major, was given the first campus-wide Outstanding Undergraduate Research Award.
Aziz Inan, engineering, had his article, “My View: Beverly Cleary’s birthday adds up to a big celebration,” published in The Portland Tribune on Thursday, April 12, 2018.
