September Nelson, nursing, completed her Ph.D. in nursing at the University of Colorado – Anschutz Medical Campus in December. The title of her dissertation is “Relationships among workload, teamwork, and missed nursing care in the nursing home environment.”
Ali Na, communication studies, published “Gangnam Eth(n)ic: The Transnational Politics of YouTube Reperformance” in Liminalities: A Journal of Performance Studies 13(3) in December 2017. In January, she also published a public intellectual piece with a response from cultural theorist Sara Ahmed, entitled “Living (Out of Joint) a Feminist Life” for Syndicate (A Living Network of Scholarship in the Humanities).
Tisha Morrell, education, presented a paper co-authored by Sally Hood and Erik Mellgren ’15 entitled “A first-year middle school science teacher’s experiences navigating science content in a dual language immersion program” at the 2018 Association for Science Teacher Education Conference in Baltimore, Maryland. Tisha also was installed as president of the association at the January conference.

Hannah Highlander, mathematics, presented “Open Problems for Undergraduates: Vaccination Strategies for the Control of Infectious Disease,” (with Winfried Just) at the Special Session on Open and Accessible Problems for Undergraduate Research, Joint American Mathematical Society (AMS)/Mathematical Association of America (MAA) Meetings, San Diego, California, January 2018. She also presented “‘Rule-of-Five’ Framework for Models and Modeling to Unify Mathematicians and Biologists and Improve Student Learning” (with Carrie Eaton) at the Special Session on Trends in Undergraduate Mathematical Biology Education for the same conference.
