Becca Nerstad, student activities, was honored at a recent conference of the Northwest Student Affairs Professionals (NWASAP) with the New Professional Award. The award is dedicated to individuals who are beginning their career within higher education, and honors those who demonstrate service to the unit/institution above and beyond job expectations, service above and beyond expectations to the profession, dedication to student success, and enthusiasm for student affairs. At the same conference, Jeromy Koffler, student activities, presented “Factors Influencing Leadership Efficacy for Traditional-Aged Sophomore Male College Students;” Jessica Wode, residence life, presented “Common Pitfalls of Young Job Seekers and How to Avoid Them;” Chris Haug, residence life, presented “Aspiring Student Affairs Directors: Considering your Professional Trajectory;” and James Pena-Hall and Ezequiel Delgado-Cervantes, resident life, presented “No Man is an Island: The Asian Pacific Islander Transition to College.”

Sharon A. Jones, engineering, served as an invited panelist for a session at Next Stages, Next Steps Career Workshop, October 29, in Claremont CA, sponsored by Higher Education Resource Services (HERS). The panel was part of a workshop designed to help participants explore how to identify the right positions, prepare materials for search processes, learn how to navigate the search process including search committee interviews and campus visits, and develop a network of supporters needed to succeed.
