Karen Eifler, Garaventa Center, co-presented a half-day workshop, along with Karin Botto of LeMoyne College, to the Women Executive Leaders in Catholic Higher Education on February 4 in Washington, DC. Their session, “Uniquely Empowered: Integrating Contemplative Practices into Catholic Higher Education Leadership,” was part of the national meeting of the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities.

Aziz Inan, engineering, published the article titled, “Happy palindrome birthday to Oregon City’s Delores Ferrante,” in Clackamas Review, February 2, 2022 (online) and Volume 101, Issue 6, page A6, February 9, 2022 (paper copy). Inan was featured in The Providence Journal/USA Today Network because of his research about palindrome dates, particularly, the ubiquitous palindrome date, 2-22-22, which will occur this Tuesday, referred to as “Twosday.” Inan was also featured in the following two online articles regarding his research work on palindrome dates: Calgary Herald and The Record-Courier. Inan coined palindrome dates that occur on the same day of the calendar no matter what date format is being used as “ubiquitous palindrome dates.” This February contains two ubiquitous palindrome dates: 2/2/22 and 2/22/22. Inan also published his article titled, “A farewell to legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar in numbers,” in IndiaWest Journal, February 15, 2022.

Don Norton, performing and fine arts, recently completed a tour of the Midwest with his quartet, Facing West. The group gave performances and/or educational clinics at Gustavus Adolphus College (St. Peter, MN), Jazz Central Studios (Minneapolis, MN), Octopus (Cedar Falls, IA), the University of Northern Iowa (Cedar Falls, IA), Mankato West High School (Mankato, MN), and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (Eau Claire, WI).
