On Sunday, October 30, the University’s Omicron Upsilon chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, International, the honor society of nursing, inducted 39 undergraduate and 2 graduate students at a ceremony in the Bauccio Commons. School of Nursing dean emeritus Joanne Warner was the guest speaker. New officers were also installed and Janet Banks, nursing, is the new president of the chapter.
Sarina Saturn, psychology, partnered with the nonprofit Voices Set Free to provide workshops to clinicians and social service workers on how childhood domestic violence affects the brain and body, and ways that prosociality can counteract the damage caused by stress and trauma, on November 4 and December 2, hosted by Cedar Hills Hospital and NW Health Foundation.
Jeff Gauthier, philosophy and gender and women’s studies, published his article “Equal Opportunity and Its Discontents: Comments on Joseph Fishkin’s Bottlenecks,” in Social Philosophy Today 32 (2016).
Tisha Morrell, education, co-authored an article with Ian Morrell (Washington State) entitled “Using Pokemon Go to Meet NGSS Science and Engineering Practices!” published in the November edition of The Oregon Science Teacher.
Susan Stillwell, nursing, presented “Infusing Evidence into Practice to Reflect the Changing Nursing World” at the Kaiser Northwest Nursing Conference, Portland OR, November 2, 2016.
