Stephanie Salomone, mathematics, organized and hosted the Western Regional Noyce Alliance Annual Conference, Feb. 21-23, 2020, in Portland, OR. The conference was funded by the National Science Foundation as part of the WRNA grant, and Salomone is the principal investigator on the UP subaward. A mix of 240 pre-service and in-service K-12 STEM teachers and higher education faculty working on teacher preparation from 10 Western states participated in the conference, which focused on networking, professional development of STEM teachers, and retention of teachers of STEM in high-needs schools and school districts. The Portland conference is the second in a series of 3 annual meetings and is part of a larger comprehensive school-year and summer professional development program for STEM teachers working with our most vulnerable youth.
