Tisha Morrell, education, gave a symposium on “Teacher Preparation in Oregon with a Comparison to Korean Teacher Preparation Programs” to faculty and graduate students at both Kangwon National University (Chuncheon) and Ewha Woman’s University (Seoul), South Korea.
Simon Aihiokhai, theology, had his review of Racism and the Image of God, by Karen Teel, published in The Journal of The Black Catholic Theological Symposium. Volume VIII (2016): 111 – 112, December 2016.
Kelly Fox, nursing, is the 2017 recipient of the Valley Catholic Distinguished Alumni Award. After graduating from the University of Portland with a degree in nursing, Fox received a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Washington. She is scheduled to complete her doctorate in nursing practice from Yale University in 2017. Out of a desire to deliver safe, high quality care for vulnerable populations in the Portland metro region, Fox founded Healthcare Professionals of Portland. She serves as a board director at Maryville, which provides long-term skilled nursing care, short-term physical rehabilitation and memory care on the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon (SSMO) campus.
Ami Ahern-Rindell, biology, attended and presented at the WORLD Symposium, the 13th annual conference of the Society of Inherited Metabolic Disorders that was held in San Diego February 13 – 16. Ahern-Rindell and her two former research students Alexandra Quackenbush and Sara McCrohan co-authored the presentation titled: “Characterization of a Secondary Deficiency of Neuraminidase Activity in a Unique Ovine Model of GM1 Gangliosidosis.
Aziz Inan, engineering, had his article, “Brainteasers in honor of Mike Bloomberg’s 75th Birthday and Valentine’s Day,” published in the Beacon.
