Aziz Inan, engineering, published his article titled, “Brainteasers to Celebrate Zsa Zsa Gabor’s Centennial Birthday,” in Daily News Hungary, February 7, 2017. Gabor died on December 18, 2016, 50 days shy of her 100th birthday, which was February 6, 2017. See the story here and here.
In addition to the environmental students scoring prizes for posters at the Sigma Xi Student Research Symposium on November 4, 2016, three of Sr. Angela Hoffman’s chemistry students, Kevin Truong, Alexys Bermudez, and Mackenzie Brandon won first prize in the Chemistry category. Their poster title was “Callisia fragrans: The Extract That May Inhibit Cancer Cells.” Truong also won first place in the Biochemistry category at the American Chemical Society poster night at Portland State University in October 2016 with a similar poster.
Nick McRee, sociology & social work, presented “The Application of Judicial Sanctions and Incentives in an Adult Drug Treatment Court” at the Western Society of Criminology annual meeting, Las Vegas, Nevada (with Laurie A. Drapela), February 2017. He also presented “Communication Competence and Behavioral Misconduct Among a Sample of Incarcerated Offenders”(with C. Vail Fletcher and Amelia Cole) at the same conference.
Susan Stillwell, nursing, was invited to present “Evidence to Transform Healthcare” to nursing students and nursing faculty at Universidad Nacional de Columbia, Bogota, Colombia, via Skype, on February 7, 2017.
