TLC From The TLC: Internationalization Support

December 1, 2017

Over the past few years, internationalization efforts have increased throughout the University, according to Kimberly Ilosvay, education. Campus activities with global opportunities are well-attended and courses have been redesigned to included international, intercultural, and global topics for discussion and action. In the quest to expand “culturally-engaging curricular opportunities and promote knowledge, skills, and dispositions for successful interaction in diverse environments,” you might find yourself searching for valid and reliable assessment tools that can be used across campus or simply with one course (Strategic Plan 2020, D 2.5). The following links are various well-known instruments to support your work.

The Global Perspective Inventory (GPI) – The GPI emphasizes cognitive, intrapersonal, and interpersonal dimensions, which provide a holistic approach to assessing learning and development.

The Intercultural Communication Institute – This site has 14 assessment instruments with details about the purpose for each assessment, guides to administering them, and ideas about how the outcomes can help you in future planning.
