Student Health Center Vaccination Clinic on Campus (Sept. 27-28)

The Student Health Center is bringing vaccines to campus for all students and employees. We have contracted with Safeway pharmacy to provide Flu, Hep B, MMR, Meningococcal and possibly the new COVID vaccine at the end of the month.

Walk-ins are welcome, but you may also pre-register if you wish.

When: Wednesday, Sep 27 and Thursday, Sep 28, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: Library Patio
What: Flu, Hep B, MMR, Meningococcal vaccines will be available. The new COVID vaccine will be an option if it is available.

Immunization-Prevented Illnesses: What You Need to Know

Recent cases of meningococcal meningitis resulting in a fatality at an Oregon college campus have prompted the passing of SB 274, effective as of January 2018. This bill requires Oregon colleges and universities that offer student housing to inform new students about immunization-prevented illnesses.

The University Health & Counseling Center encourages all students and staff members to be informed of symptoms and risks associated with these immunization-prevented illnesses. We promote prevention through vaccination and awareness. Please review this information provided by the Oregon Health Authority regarding symptoms of these immunization-prevented illnesses, preventive measures, recommended and required vaccines, and information regarding these vaccines. This information will be distributed to students, faculty, and staff members at the beginning of the spring semester.

Matthew Warshawsky, International Languages and Cultures, presented “‘A Woman So Perfect Keeping the Law’: The Crypto-Jewish Faith of Justa Méndez in Colonial Mexico.” The 34th Annual Conference of the Society for Crypto-Judaic Studies (presented virtually). October 27, 2024.

David Fuentes, Nursing and Health Innovations, presented “Bridging the Skills across Human and Artificial Intelligence Coaching Strategies to Boost Peer-Coaching & Self-Coaching Skills.” Co-presenter: Dave Houglum, PhD. Lightning Session of the Catholic Higher Education and AI Conference at University of Portland. The session briefly highlighted some of the innovations concerning the use of AI in leadership coaching, practice/training, and coaching ongoing developmental growth. October, 2024. Dave Houglum, Director of Leadership Studies and Leadership Professor of Practice, Franz Center for Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation, presented nine, one-hour invited leadership presentations for the European Leadership Programme in Brussels, Belgium. Houglum also provided individual leadership coaching sessions to many of the programme’s Fellows and to the staff of the Jesuit European Social Center (JESC). The European Leadership Programme draws emerging leaders from across Europe to participate in a five-month leadership development programme. October 12-16, 2024.
