The performing and fine arts department will present a screening of Buster Keaton’s classic silent film, “The General,” accompanied by a live soundtrack by the University Orchestra, on Saturday, January 23, in Buckley Center Auditorium. The soundtrack was written by student composer Dana Coppernoll-Houston. A pre-concert talk on film music will be presented by Edmund Stone, host of the nationally-syndicated film music radio show, “The Score,” at 6 p.m., followed by the screening and concert at 7 p.m.
This event is co-sponsored by the dean’s office of the College of Arts and Sciences and the McNerney-Hanson Endowed Chair in Ethics as an “Ethics and the Arts” initiative.
