Miroslav Cmuchal Rokos, a member of the University of Portland engineering faculty from 1965 to his retirement in 2001, passed away on April 1, 2017. As per his wishes, he died with home hospice surrounded by family, including his wife Bohuna, and children, Ivan ’87 and Teresa ’91. Since his retirement he actively enjoyed stock market research and investment, daily walks through forest trails near his house in the West Hills, and various activities with his four grandchildren.
At his request, there was no service. Rokos was well-loved by students and colleagues alike, and widely admired for his scholarship and unwavering support of his students as well as the University’s mission. He was awarded the Culligan Medal, the University’s highest faculty honor, in 1973. Our prayers and condolences to the family at this difficult time.
