The University of Portland will host Young Entrepreneurs Business Week (YEBW), a non-profit organization dedicated to building the next generation of business leaders, for a one-week professional development experience from July 10-16. YEBW is seeking volunteers to serve as company advisors who can help students with the financial literacy, business fundamentals, and confidence they need to be self-sufficient and successful. The company offers business and leadership programs to aid in strengthening the future of Oregon and its high school student participants by producing week-long, hands-on learning experiences at UP, University of Oregon, and Oregon State University (OSU) campuses.
During the programs, students are broken up into student-led companies, each of which is guided by a loaned executive from the business community who shares his or her knowledge and expertise throughout the week.
The week-long volunteer opportunity is ideal for emerging professionals, mid-level or senior-level managers, small business owners, and independent agents with strong leadership and communication skills. Faculty and staff who would like to volunteer or recommend this opportunity to colleagues or contacts can learn more at www.yebw.org/company-advisors.
Young Entrepreneurs Business Week was founded by a group of UP alumni over 10 years ago. The program assembles entrepreneurs, executives, educators and business professionals to guide, coach, and mentor high school students through hands-on business curriculum and competitions.
