This week: Downloading and Using Fonts
Ever wondered which font to use for print and which font to use online?
TheSans is the University’s primary print font, because of its clean, easy-to-read, and modern design. TheSans should be used for print and digital documents (such as a pdf or a jpeg).
For live text on a website, Open Sans is the way to go. It’s a free alternative to TheSans.
To download TheSans:
- Navigate to ShareUP, by selecting this link.
- Select “ShareUP Login.”
- Once you are logged in, hover over the thumbnail with the font you’d like to use and select the download icon (bottom right corner).
- Open the font in your “Downloads” folder and select “Install.”
Open Sans can be downloaded from Google Fonts.
In general, we recommend TheSans and Open Sans plain for body copy and bold for sub-heads and headlines.
