The Public Research Fellows is conducting a project aimed at documenting how the North Portland community experiences everyday democracy. We want you to share your experiences in using, defending, and preserving Columbia Park and Annex along with its physical infrastructure. This project seeks to illustrate the compromises that community members make when they partake in, engage with, withdraw from, and disengage from civil dialogue with the City Council, all in the pursuit of safeguarding North Portland’s cherished public spaces. Our objective is to design an exhibition that honors community members’ experiences and highlights the relevance of public space for the community’s well-being and prosperity.
We invite you to participate in a co-creating (idea storm) session where we will discuss your experiences interacting with the City Council and your hopes for an engaged civil dialogue with the new government. Your time commitment will be approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Session 1 (In-Person): February 17, 2025, at 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. | University of Portland [Franz Hall 234]
Session 2 (Virtual / Zoom): February 22, 2025, at 4:00 p.m.
You will need to email us if you are participating online to send you a Zoom link.
If you have any questions about the sessions or your participation, please contact Beatriz Itzel via e-mail (megchun@up.edu) or phone (503) 943-8271.
This research is supported by the 2024-25 Public Research Fellows.
