As part of Diversity Dialogues, the Career Education Center is hosting “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Your Internship and Job Search” on Wednesday, January 27, at 5:30 p.m. UP alumnus Marcus Carter will be sharing his personal and professional journey that led him to his current role as director of social equity at Cinder, a community-conscious agency dedicated to humanizing staffing and cultivating inclusive workplaces. Marcus also serves as board president with Portland Workforce Alliance and as a board member with Free Greek. In addition, he organizes with Critical Resistance and is a proud father of two superheroes. Marcus has extensive experience in recruiting and talent acquisition and will share an employer’s perspective and advice for applications as well as how employers are addressing diversity, equity and inclusion today.
In this workshop, participants will know or be able to:
- Gain a stronger sense of identity
- Learn insights for articulating an authentic story to potential employers
- Increase their understanding of current DE&I trends in recruiting
- Learn how to leverage their voice in an internship or job
