Stryker Chair Training (TBD)

EHS will host a Stryker chair training in September for those interested in learning how to use the chair in their building for safe evacuation for disabled or injured persons. A course date will be scheduled pending input from interested participants. (Read More)

Don’t Miss PilotTalks on April 18!

Join us for a lively night of engaging storytelling from our own UP community in the Buckley Center Auditorium. Fr. Peter Walsh, professor Karen Eifler, and UP regent Janice Burger will share thought-provoking stories of hope, renewal, and transformation. Afterward, President Kelly will lead them in a panel discussion to unpack some of the night’s themes. Come early for the wine and cheese social in Dundon-Berchtold Lounge—the food and festivities are free, but we encourage donations of non-perishable food items to help replenish the StockUP food bank. Earth Day Tour: Shiley-Marcos Center for Design and Innovation (Apr. 22)

Come celebrate Earth Day with a tour UP’s newest and most sustainable building on campus. This tour with the architects will focus on LEED Gold certification design elements, innovative carbon-reduction strategies and energy reduction measures. Thirst Friday: It’s Been a Bærry, Bærry Good Career (Apr. 26)

Public Research Fellows “Engaging Portland” Showcase and Open House (Apr. 26)

N. Willamette Blvd April-May Campus Impact: Update

PBOT started work on the first phase of Willamette upgrades with ADA ramp work at the intersections to the northwest of Portsmouth. Three intersections are impactful to campus. Three faculty members from International Languages and Cultures participated in the 122nd annual conference of the Pacific Ancient and Modern Language Association (PAMLA), November 20-23 in San Francisco. Verena Hutter presented “Embodied Memory: Holocaust Tattoos and Postmemory,” served as presiding officer of all three sessions of Austrian Studies, and chaired one of them. María Echenique presented “A Precursor of ‘Feminism from the Zulos’ by Dahlia de la Cerda” and served as presiding officer and chair of the session Spain, Portugal, and Latin America: Jewish Culture and Literature in Trans-Iberia. Matthew Warshawsky presented “A ‘Tenth Muse’ in 1600s Sephardic Amsterdam: Isabel Rebeca Correa, Translator, Poet, and Feminist” and served as presiding officer and chair of the Jewish Literature and Culture session.
