The University will host the 21st annual Reading Fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 22, in the Chiles Center. The event, “Blast Off Into Reading,” is free and open to all members of the UP community and the public. The event will be hosted by Kappa Delta Pi, the international honor society in education. Every child attending will receive a free, new book of their choosing.
The fair’s theme is designed to be an integrated approach to literacy that will engage students from pre-kindergarten to middle school. The featured author this year is Raymond Macalino, who will read from his book, Percy’s Planetary Surprise. Kid-friendly events throughout the day will include outer space-related crafts, an obstacle course, and a raffle.
