The classic Athenian play Alkestis will be performed November 8-10, and 14-16 in Mago Hunt Center Theater. All performances are at 7:30 p.m., except the Sunday performance, which is at 2 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. Alkestis, the earliest known work by classical Athenian playwright Euripides, is an ancient story of the living dead. The all-female cast gathers to celebrate the woman Alkestis, who is fated to die in her husband’s place. The ensemble cast, all University of Portland students, is made up os Emily Claire Biggs, Tori Dunlap, Annie Ganousis, Taylor Kendig, Beth Lageson, Hannah Lingenbrink, Alexa Redmond, Danielle Renella, Elyse Rybka, and Kristen Schmidt. The play is directed by graduate student Andrew Wardenaar and costume design is by Gregory Pulver, performing and fine arts.
